Units 1-4

U N I T   1

During this unit, I acquired a better understanding of design. I used Microsoft Word and font websites to create text-to-graphics such as business and personal logos. This mini-project helped me become accustom to the Microsoft Word program and taught me that in web design, you have to use several sources before you can have an end product. Furthermore, the magazine cover project served as a nice cumulative of Photoshop and Microsoft Word skills I had obtained over the weeks. Overall, unit 1 served as an exemplary introduction into the world of graphic image design.

The second unit of the year was my personal favorite by far! Using Photoshop, I was given the opportunity to design portraits, living rooms and more. The reason this unit is my favorite is because of the endless room for creativity. I was able to create a unique design that I’ve been imagining in my head for awhile. I actually would like to use a similar design for a movie poster one day. I’m also glad I was able to take away Photoshop skills from this unit.

U N I T  3

The project I am most proud of comes from this unit. Throughout the third unit, I was able to understand time based media through Audacity, Powerpoint and iMovie. For my clay-mation project, I made a frame-by-frame powerpoint to tell a story. Basically, it follows the same boy through different moments in his life. The color red is used in each moment to show parallels. Making the project was tedious, but the end product makes me extremely happy and I can’t help but rewatch it.

U N I T  4

The fourth unit was certainly the most time-consuming of the semester. During this unit, I came out with a much better understanding of webpage design. I created four websites, each connecting to personal topics, my hobbies, dream school and career, etc. I may not have retained all the little details of coding, but I learned important time-managing skills and how to assemble a website from a single notepad.
